More Bliss.

I am delighted to have signed a publishing contract to ensure that The Death of Justice, the fifth book in my DI Bliss series, is released in September this year. With a number of personal and professional strands tied up at the end of The Reach of Shadows, I decided to freshen up the series by having a storyline that is more linear than recent Bliss books, with a faster pace and new central characters

joining the investigation. That’s not to say the story lacks either complexity or continuity, because there is a deep-rooted mystery at the heart of this one, plus readers familiar with the series will get to witness the next stage of development awaiting both DI Bliss and DS Chandler. I’m hoping that both the story and the pace will grab the reader by the throat, and as usual you should expect the unexpected.

Last year, reader and Bliss fan Diane Warburton coughed up a considerable amount of money to charity in order to appear as a named character in the next book, and having chosen to be on the side of good rather than evil, I rewarded Diane by creating a character central to the storyline with a large number of scenes with both the Peterborough Major Crimes team and as Bliss’s temporary partner.

In other news, I am looking forward to being front and centre at a book club meeting in Leicestershire next month, where I’ll be answering questions in response to the group having read If Fear Wins. In May I’ll be appearing at an event at the Deepings Literary Festival, along with several other local authors. And in June, myself and fellow author Eva Jordan will be joining together for an evening of readings, signings, a Q&A session, plus some drink and nibbles and socialising at the Peterborough branch of Waterstones.
